Hi! I am a Certified Bob Ross Instructor
and a Certified Valerie Stewart Portrait Instructor.  I would really enjoy the chance to paint with you and give you "hands on" help in learning both the Bob Ross  and Valerie Stewart techniques. I teach Bob's landscape paintings, and Valerie's Portrait Painting techniques in scheduled classes.  Bob's paintings are completed in one day, through Directed Teaching (we all paint the same painting together) and Valerie's classes are multi-session where you work on your own subjects with my guidance.

I began my interest in creative endeavors as a child, but was unable to take art classes in school.  Instead, I learned knitting from my Grandma, sewing from my Mom, and other "crafty" skills from friends.  As an adult, I looked for a class to give me a detailed explanation of the "how to" of art - which brush did what technique with which paint.  No one wanted to teach me that boring stuff, so I figured I just wasn't cut out to be an artist.

Along came the crazy guy on TV, and my interest was re-kindled.  In 1993 I found a Certified Bob Ross Instructor, and began my studies under his gentle tutelage. After several years, he sent me off to be certified, and I have been teaching since 1997.  I began studying portrait painting with Valerie Stewart in 2003, and became certified in 2005.

I developed the oval masks when Contact Paper changed from really sticky to more like "post-it" notes.  I like doing Bob's unique "oval in rectangle paintings", and I needed stickier coverage like masking tape.

My philosophy is much like Bob's and Valerie's - I believe that each of us has the capability and the hunger for creation.  It may be in oils, water colors, acrylics, clay, metal, fabric, or many other mediums.  My goal is to give each student the confidence to believe that he or she can accomplish wonderful things with every attempt.

If I can open a student's eyes to the possibilities, then my job is done.  I WILL teach you that "boring" stuff - how to load your brush or knife, and how to accomplish that tree, waterfall, rock, crashing wave, sparkling eye or charming smile.  What you do with the knowledge is up to you and your imagination.
